Dr. Chasson is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Towson University, where he also conducts research on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), autism spectrum disorders, and related conditions through his research lab, the Site for OCD & Autism Research. Dr. Chasson is also the Director of CBT Solutions of Baltimore, a private practice that specializes in the delivery of cognitive-behavioral therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and related conditions.

After growing up in Huntington Beach, CA, Dr. Chasson attended the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Distinction in the Major and the Exceptional Academic Performance Award. While studying at UCSB, he carried out independent research to complete an undergraduate honors thesis, which investigated the automatic capture of visual attention from an evolutionary psychology framework. In addition, Dr. Chasson obtained several years of clinical and research experience as a Research Assistant and Respite Care Provider for the Koegel Autism Center at UCSB, as well as a Direct Care Staff for adolescents with severe autism spectrum disorders at the Devereux Foundation in Santa Barbara.

Subsequent to completing his training at UCSB, Dr. Chasson immediately matriculated into the Child/Family track of the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Houston (UH) in Texas. He also obtained an academic minor in Psychological Statistics and Data Analysis. At UH, he carried out two independent research projects (i.e., Master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation) that investigated treatment outcome with child victims of trauma. He also served as the Research Coordinator for the Texas Young Autism Project, Program Coordinator for the UH Forensic Psychology Research lab, and Research Coordinator for the OCD Treatment Program at the Menninger Clinic in Houston.

While at UH, Dr. Chasson also received extensive clinical training. He provided cognitive-behavioral therapy on a sliding-scale fee to the community through the UH Psychology Research and Services Center, where he also provided exposure-based treatment to young child victims of trauma through the Victims’ Resource Institute. Serving as a behavior therapist for the Texas Young Autism Project, he also worked with young children with autism, whom he treated with Discrete Trial Training and other Applied Behavior Analysis techniques.  Dr. Chasson completed a two-year externship at the Menninger Clinic’s OCD Treatment Program, where he provided exposure-based treatment, facilitated group therapy, and conducted psychological assessments.

The University of Houston also provided multiple opportunities to teach. He served as a Teaching Assistant for two years in UH’s Department of Psychology. In addition, he was the instructor for an undergraduate abnormal psychology course and the lab instructor for one undergraduate research methods lab, as well as two graduate-level advanced statistics courses.

For the final year of his Ph.D. program, Dr. Chasson moved to the Boston area and worked as a Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital. There he worked as a clinical intern at the Behavioral Health Partial Hospital and through the Outpatient program. He also collaborated on various research projects with the OCD Institute.

After completing his one-year internship at McLean Hospital, Dr. Chasson received a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, working in the OCD and Related Disorders Program as one of the Project Directors and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists. There he directed a longitudinal family OCD study, collaborated on other research projects, and provided treatment to patients with a wide variety of obsessive-compulsive spectrum conditions (e.g., OCD, body dysmorphic disorder, Tourette’s syndrome and tic disorders, trichotillomania, hypochondriasis, Asperger’s disoder, and hoarding). After finishing up his training, Dr. Chasson moved to the Baltimore area for his Assistant Professorship at Towson University.
